Home buyers and sellers who want to enhance the value of their home by remodeling can expect the highest return on their investment by adding a deck, replacing siding, adding a bathroom or adding an attic bedroom. Those projects emerged as yielding the best cost-recovery rates in a national study that analyzed how much of the cost of a remodeling project could be recovered at resale.

Conducted by REALTOR® magazine as a joint venture with Remodeling magazine, the study assesses costs versus value of various home improvement projects. The recently released report for 2003 is based on an examination of 15 popular home improvement projects across 35 markets. According to the latest findings, Seattle-area buyers can expect favorable returns on most of their remodeling investments.
